GLOBAL WORM INC. Kido Character

*The title is a word play and a parallel to the “Global Warming”

Kido is Kokimoto’s so-called “well-intentioned pet”, a type of a computer worm, and his name comes from the last word of the program- NetWorm.Win32.Kido. In Zen Buddhism this word means “Energy way“(Ki – energy, Do –way). This worm appeared in my personal computer and more specifically in the Fat32 file system back in 2005. When I became aware of its existence naturally I had to get rid of it. The only possible way to deal with the situation was to put the worm under quarantine. Because if it were to be deleted, it would erase all the important information from the file system as well, since it had replicated itself in it a number of times. So Kido continued to exist in my computer up until 2011 as a “pet” and persisted to replicate in my mind and imagination until it gradually gained an overall appearance and expressive character. This is how 10 years later my pet, already formed as a character with the name Kido, is out of quarantine and multiplies many times in pictures, photographs and objects in different forms and dimensions. Thus formed the universal name of the influence of Kido over the artist of the project and all others it affected – namely Global Worm Inc.

*Worm – the lowest three-layered animal; Computer worm (Net-Worm.Win32.Kido) is a self-replicating computer program. Unlike viruses worms don’t infect other files, instead they copy themselves and spread until they completely exhaust your computer’s system resources. Computer worms are malicious programs which copy themselves from one system to another instead of infecting files located in the computer. For example the mass-mailing email worm sends copies to all email addresses that it can find recorded in the infected computer. The Network worm is copied and distributed over the network, the Internet worm spreads via the Internet, and the worm (the well-intended pet Kido) of Kokimoto replicates and spreads via the artist’s works. There is no need to protect yourself from the last-mentioned type just on the contrary it is advisable to obtain an original or a copy of Kido in every one of its forms and then experience the positive effects of it.

Кидо е т.нар. добронамерен „домашен любимец“ на Кокимото, тип компютърен червей, а името му идва от последната дума на програмата NetWorm.Win32.Kido. В Дзен Будизмът тази дума означава „енергиен път“ (Ki – енергия, Do – път). Този червей се появи в персоналния ми компютър и по-точно във файловата система Fat32 през далечната 2005 година. Когато разбрах за съществуването му, трябваше да се отърва от него. Единственият възможен начин за справяне със възникналата ситуация беше да поставя червея под карантина, защото ако го бях изтрил, с него щеше да се изгуби и важна информация от файловата система, в която той се бе копирал многократно. Така той остана да съществува в компютъра ми до 2011-та, под формата на „домашен любимец“, като продължи да се копира в съзнанието и въображението ми и след това, под различни форми, като постепенно придоби цялостен вид и изразителен характер. По този начин 10 години по късно домашният ми любимец, вече оформил се като типаж на име Кидо излезе от карантина и се размножи многократно в картини, фотографии и обекти под различни форми и размери. По този начин се оформи общото наименование на въздействието на Кидо върху автора на проекта и всички попаднали под негово влияние, а именно Global Worm Inc.

*Worm – Червей - най-низшето трипластно животно; Computer worm - Компютърен червей (Net-Worm.Win32.Kido) е самовъзпроизвеждаща се компютърна програма. За разлика от вирусите червеите не заразяват други файлове, вместо това те се копират и разпространяват докато изтощят напълно системните ресурси на компютъра Ви. Компютърните червеи са злонамерени програми, които сами се копират от една система в друга, вместо да заразяват файловете, разположени в компютъра. Например червей, който се разпоространява масово по пощата (mass-mailing email worm) изпраща копия до всички адреси за електронна поща, които може да открие записани в заразения компютър. Мрежовият червей се копира и разпространява по мрежата, Интернет червея се разпространява чрез Интернет, а червея (добронамереният „домашен любимец“ - Кидо) на Кокимото се копира в и разпространява чрез произведенията му и т.н. Oт последния вид не е необходимо да се предпазвате, а точно обратното, желателно е да се сдобиете с оригинал или копие на Кидо във всяка една от неговите форми и изпитате положителните последици от това.

Eurasian Art Express Project: Difference and Interstice

“Eurasian Art Express Project: Difference and Interstice” is the project which is intended to restore the art and culture network reaching the Eurasian continent passing through South Korea. This project will illuminate perspectives about the present and future of Eurasian community by way of searching and restoring for “difference” between Eurasian countries and times of historically made “interstice”. Therefore, we call this art show “Eurasian Art Express Project” in that the participants want to circulate, as if the train does, in the Eurasian continent their artworks and results from this show. In addition, this project tries to make Eurasian bandage for understanding Europe and Asia’s respective culture through various media. Those multimedia will be included each country’s peculiar art and performance, above all, contemporary visual art such as object, film, installation, painting. Our show will be held from 23th September- 4th October. Participant countries: Korea, Mongolia, China, Bulgaria and Russia
